about
'Jaisalmer', is the first single from The Valery Trails' fourth album, The Sky Is Blue, due out on August 12th.
The song tumbles out of the speakers with an electric effervescence, a thrilling mix of power pop and indie rock distorted guitars, declamatory horns in the vein of The Saints circa '78 and a seamless blend of UK and and US reference points – like Bob Mould fronting The Boo Radleys. Added features include Tim Steward (Screamfeeder, We All Want To) on guitar and Skye Staniford (We All Want To) on vocals.
"The first verse popped into my head while I was traveling through India and wouldn’t go away," explains Andrew. "I think it was my songwriting brain processing the chaos and sensory overload of India. I took some time to flesh out the lyrics, adding a second and third verse reflecting the traveling state of mind I was in, with the last line directly referencing my surroundings."
lyrics
What is this foolishness?
Why are you taunting me?
What is this foolishness?
Why is it haunting me?
Ch:
I have no right to ask you anything
I have no right to tell you anything
What is this restlessness?
What does it mean to me?
What is this restlessness?
Empty heart and open seas
Where do we go from here?
It could be anywhere
Where do we go from here?
Broken streets and desert air
